Thanks to the Adaptive Variable Suspension doing all the work, we barely noticed the road imperfections along the way. On the freeway and the long stretches of South Georgia highways, the LC 500 glided.
But like all GT cars, Lexus has predestined the LC 500 to cruise. Despite the LC 500 having a long nose with lots of weight in the front, it was flat and balanced in the corners. With a simple flip to Sport or Sport +, the engine filled the cabin with a throaty growl. We also loved the cool drive mode knob on the edge of the dash. The performance brakes with aluminum calipers are fantastic, the acceleration is quick thanks to the electric motors. They have done a great job making a 4,500 lb coupé feel light(er) and easy to drive. But Lexus knows performance isn't just about stat sheets.

Though haters would say $118,000 for a car with less horsepower than the bargain daily driver Nissan Z is crazy. The roof ($2,400), rear wing ($2,750), and scuff plates on the door sills ($600) gave the LC 500 more drip than the front row at a Laker's game. Seems like someone raided the carbon fiber stash at Lexus because our LC 500 had it all over. We loved the 21" black alloy wheels with staggered Summer tires and the carbon fiber extras. If you want looks (or AWD), you might be happy with an IS350, but if you want that with a V8, you can't go wrong with the IS500…unless you need AWD.Everyone knows Lexus has been obsessive about the details on their cars the past decade or so, especially the design. Overall, it’s a well-built car that will be underappreciated for a while.
There's a plethora of safety features standard on this car if you’re into that. Visibility is great even though it has a small rear window. Interior is a mixed bag outdated and busy but has a lot of attention to detail and comfort.

It's hard to compare the IS500 to another performance vehicle from a different brand, because it will fall short.
Lexus is using performance to distinguish it from the rest of its lineup. When I think of a car manufacturer using the word, "performance" with a car, terms like, "canyon carver, track missile, tire shredder" come to mind.that's not the case with this car.
